Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, has registered a growth of 20 percent on its third Tuesday. The film grossed approximately Rs. 2.50 crore and third week earning is Rs. 19.75 crore nett. The running cume of Border 2 has crossed Rs. Earning 295 crores at Indian box office.
The Sunny Deol starrer military drama has collected around Rs. 5,000 in its third week. Hoping to reach. 22 crores, bringing the total accumulation close to Rs. Net mark of 300 crores. The film will face Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’ Romeo’ in the coming weekend, which is expected to put a full stop to its theatrical performance.
Based on current trends, the Border 2 will be priced around Rs. 305 crores nett in India, which is a good figure. However, expectations were very high. This was due to trade circles overestimating the potential of Border 2 after the historic success of Gadar 2.
Border 2 is a hit film. At one time it seemed like the super hit was a done deal, but now it may be a close call, depending on how the late stages for the film pan out. For that matter, even the blockbuster was a possibility after what it did in its extended first weekend, but it was quickly dismissed. Nonetheless, this is a very solid result for the film. Military war dramas have traditionally not performed well at the Indian box office. The two hits in space are the original Border film and now this sequel.
