Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, had a stellar opening weekend at the box office. As per estimates, the military drama collected a solid Rs. Started with earnings of Rs. Earning Rs 160 crore globally. The film grossed approximately Rs. 133 crore (Rs 111 crore nett) from Indian markets, approximately Rs. Earning of Rs 47-48 crore was done on the third day. Backed by Jaypee Films and T-Series Films, Border 2 also found a significant audience in international markets, where it grossed approximately USD 2.9 million (₹ 27 crore) in its opening weekend.
The film had a super strong run over the weekend and was just 10 percent less than Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. For the record, Gadar 2 collected Rs. Earning Rs 178 crore at the worldwide box office. With a big holiday tomorrow on the occasion of Republic Day, Border 2 is expected to see a significant increase in collections. If it performs on expected lines, it will cross Rs. Worldwide earning of Rs 200 crore till yesterday itself.

One of the major reasons for the film doing well at the box office is the nostalgia associated with the Border brand. Additionally, the film received an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience, leading to a strong run at the box office.
Interestingly, the film has no significant competition till Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’ Romeo’, which means Border 2 will continue to dominate the box office for three consecutive weeks. It will be interesting to see whether this Sunny Deol starrer film can match Gadar 2 at the box office or not.
