Jolly LLB 3 earned Rs. Rs 4.25 crore in its fourth week. 30 lakhs on the fourth Thursday. It saw a decline of 40 percent compared to the previous week. The total earning of Jolly LLB 3 is now Rs. Earned Rs 110.75 crore at the Indian box office. The film still has four days left in theatres. Till then Rs. should be added to it. 1 crore to Rs. 1.50 crore in the tally, taking its entire theatrical earning to Rs. 112-113 crore nett. This will mark its dramatic end as the film will leave the theaters on October 21 with the arrival of Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.
This is neither a good nor a bad figure, as at one point it seemed that the film would complete its theatrical run under Rs. 100 crore figure. However, it saw good traction from the second weekend onwards. Despite the release of Kantara: Chapter 1 and Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari during the Gandhi Jayanti weekend, it continued to garner low levels of popularity.
Backed by Star Studios, Jolly LLB 3 will perform average at the box office. Although this is not expected from a franchise film, it has performed better than Akshay Kumar’s previous releases – Kesari Chapter 2 and Sky Force.
The big challenge for such medium scale films is the change of audience. Audiences are choosing streaming platforms over the traditional theatrical experience. There’s an eight-week window, but audiences are willing to wait for films that lack anticipation. Jolly LLB 3 managed to garner appreciation, but since initial interest was low, it did not gain the same traction as films in the past. What is needed is to make the theatrical window so long that it becomes inconvenient for the audience to wait.
