Thamma has registered a growth of about 12 per cent on Sunday, reaching an estimated Rs. Tally 14.50 crores. The vampire comedy drama collected Rs. 5,000 in its 6-day extended opening weekend. 90 crores nett in India, strengthening a good base. The film should take advantage of the Monday holiday in some parts of India, which suggests it will do well tomorrow. Furthermore, the film is expected to cross the Rs crore mark. 100 crore mark till Tuesday.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, this film is making the record of best occupancy in Delhi-UP, Rajasthan and Mysore. The ban on weekdays will determine how far the film can go from there. Since there is no significant release in Hindi till Ajay Devgan’s De De Pyaar De 2, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s film will get a clean release by mid-November.
The figures are fine for the artists and costs involved, but it needs better for the IP value and festival releases involved. For the record, the previous film from Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe, Stree 2 (2024) had grossed over Rs. 600 crore mark, is shaping up to be an epic blockbuster. While another film from the universe, Munjya (2024) earned a solid Rs. 100 crores. Thamma will soon surpass the lifetime collection of Munjya and then move towards the box office collection of Stree (2018) (Rs 124 crore). If it continues to pick up momentum in the second and third weeks, it will surpass Thamma Stree to become the highest-grossing standalone franchise film of MHCU.

The next film from the horror-comedy world is Shakti Shalini, starring Aneet Padda in the lead role. The makers are also planning a spin-off of the Thamma character, details of which have been kept under wraps.
