Paresh Rawal starrer The Taj Story is maintaining a good hold at the box office. The film made Rs. Earned ₹ 1.30 crore on its first Tuesday, thanks to discounted ticket prices, as the film registered a growth of 20 percent compared to Monday. The film made Rs. Have earned Rs. 7.40 crore in 5 days of its theatrical run, of which Rs. Earned Rs 5 crore in the opening weekend.
There are chances that the film may register another good hold on Wednesday and take its earnings slightly higher. 8 crore nett. Its opening week is expected to be Rs. Will end around. 9.50 crore to Rs. 10.00 crore nett, which is an encouraging sign considering the cost and cast involved in the project.
Directed by Tushar Amrish Goyal, The Taj Story is playing on the lines of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files. Made on a comparatively low budget, The Taj Story should see a good bounce in the second weekend as well, as there is no significant competition apart from Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam starrer HAQ, which also depends on strong word-of-mouth.
Film collections are somewhat irregular, as the second largest series, which is usually a third or a fourth of the largest series, is collecting at the same level. The reason this series and other venues have organized screenings is probably because it is a politically charged film, and things can change massively.
If the film manages to take the lead in the second week too, it will achieve its lifetime target of around Rs. Will increase till. 20-25 crores. However, it will not be that easy. If HAQ opens to great discussion among audiences, it will immediately influence other holdover releases.
