Kantara: Chapter 1 raked in Rs. 200 crore club in Hindi, becoming the second Kannada original dubbed film to achieve this feat. It took the film 1 month i.e. 31 days to reach this magical figure. This makes Rs. Earned Rs. Earned Rs 1.25 crore on its fifth Friday (Day 30), taking its theatrical earnings to Rs. 199.30 crore nett in North Indian belt. It further collected Rs. Earned 1.75 crores on its fifth Saturday (day 31), crossing the double century mark. The total fee for Kantara: Chapter 1 is now Rs. 201.05 crore nett.
Directed by Rishabh Shetty himself, the film is already streaming on OTT platforms, although its Hindi version will hit digital screens in late November. Till then, the mythological saga will continue to gain some popularity in the Hindi region and earn around Rs. 205 crore to Rs. 210 crore nett.
Kantara: Chapter 1 may not have performed like other South Indian breakout sequels, Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2 and Pushpa 2. It did an excellent job maintaining the regional and rooted feeling in its content compared to the other three mentioned titles, which had a universal story. The film emerged as the third highest grossing Hindi film this year, leaving behind War 2 and Housefull 5. It was left behind only Chhava and Sayara.
