Zootopia 2 has taken the box office by storm. The latest Disney animated film had a phenomenal debut. The film grossed over US$271 million in China over its 5-day weekend, the second highest opening for a Hollywood film. The film fell behind only the MCU’s Avengers: Endgame. Zootopia 2 has already become the seventh highest-grossing Hollywood film in China, surpassing the lifetime collections of Venom, Avatar and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in its opening weekend itself. Zootopia 2’s next target is Aquaman, and then Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Based on current trends, Zootopia 2 has the potential to touch the USD 600 million milestone during its full run in China. If it succeeds in achieving this feat, it will surpass Avengers: Endgame to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film in China. However, after looking at its holding over the week, we can get a clear picture of its lifetime potential over a few days.
The box office collections of Zootopia 2 in China are as follows:
| Day | china box office |
| 1 | US$34 million |
| 2 | 20 million US dollars |
| 3 | US$40 million |
| 4 | 140 million usd |
| 5 | US$73 million |
| Total | US$271 million |
Talking about the worldwide box office, Zootopia 2 is estimated to have earned a whopping US$550 million in its opening weekend. Actual information will be shared later. The animated film recorded the fourth-highest global opening ever for a Hollywood film.
The film will cross the US$1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. It even has the potential to generate USD 1.5 billion worth of business throughout its tenure, depending on how it performs in the coming weeks.
Although the film is performing exceptionally well in all markets, it performed poorly in Indian territories. Estimates suggest that the film made only Rs. 9.10 crore in its 3-day opening weekend in India. Let us see if we can see some growth in the long run.
