Veteran producer TP Aggarwal filed a petition in the Bombay Civil Court in Dindoshi against FWICE and IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association), saying that no person or organization has the right to impose sanctions or issue non-cooperation directions against members of the film industry. TP Aggarwal served as the President of IMPPA for 17 years and was also elected President of the Film Federation of India (FFI) four times. He is currently the patron of FFI and IMPPA.

According to a press statement, a court notice has been sent to both the parties on June 1. The plea comes in the wake of FWICE issuing non-cooperation directions against actor Ranveer Singh following the dispute between the actor and Excel Entertainment.

Commenting on the matter, TP Aggarwal said, “The film industry thrives on collaboration, and it is important that matters of this nature are addressed through appropriate legal and professional channels. Any attempt to discourage people from working with an individual should not be taken lightly. Such actions can have far-reaching consequences for livelihoods and creative freedom, and should therefore be dealt with in a fair, transparent and lawful manner.”

TP Aggarwal spoke to NDTV and said, “Whatever FWICE has done is completely wrong and it is not within their jurisdiction. This is not something they can do. We went to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in 2017 and the court also ruled that they cannot do this, it does not come within their jurisdiction.”
