SS Rajamouli came on stage and told that some films, which are released on IMAX screens, are blown up. He said, “This is not true IMAX.” He also said that his movies like Baahubali And RRR (2022) were in 1:1.9 format. The 100 ft x 130 ft screen, the largest ever behind a blockbuster filmmaker, explained the difference between the two formats above. Then they showed a scene that covered the entire screen. Rajamouli said, “Our film (Varanasi) will be displayed on full screen. It was shot for IMAX!”
“I am very proud to say that we are introducing new technology to Telugu cinema – the premium large-scale format. It is shot for IMAX,” he said. As expected, the crowd went wild. SS Rajamouli then asked his team, “Can I get the trailer in full-screen format?”
Sadly, a mistake occurred. Rajamouli expressed regret over the error and informed the crowd that 45 generators were used to power the screen. After some time, the announcement video was finally played in its full glory and it received an overwhelming response.
Earlier in the day, Prithviraj Sukumaran explained how he got the film, “The famous SS Rajamouli narration, about which my friend Prabhas had told me so much, started. After 5 minutes of narration, I was left awestruck. For the remaining 3 hours, I heard it not as an actor listening to the pitch of narration, but like a little boy who has got his hands on the next edition of his favorite comic book! The scale, the vision, Ambition – Everything was India’s biggest contemporary film production, pushing boundaries into never-before-seen territory.”
