Mumbai Police has filed an FIR against Austrian national Peter Haag, husband of Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley, following allegations of cruelty, harassment, criminal intimidation and physical abuse. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under several provisions of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), 2023 on the complaint filed by the actress.

According to officials, the FIR has been registered under sections 85, 115(2), 351(2) and 352 of the Indian Justice Code, which deal with charges related to cruelty, hurt, intimidation and continuous harassment. This case is also related to the ongoing proceedings under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
In an important case, Mumbai Police has issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Peter Haag. Sources say that this step has been taken due to alleged non-cooperation in the ongoing investigation. LOC is generally issued in cases where authorities feel that an accused person may evade interrogation or leave the country during investigation.
This development has attracted widespread attention due to Celina Jaitley’s public profile in the Hindi film industry. However, police officials have said that the investigation is still ongoing and further action will depend on the evidence and findings gathered during the interrogation.
So far, neither Peter Haag nor his legal representatives have issued any public statements regarding the allegations. Mumbai Police is reportedly continuing to record statements and collect relevant material related to the complaint.
The case has once again highlighted the conversation on domestic violence, legal safeguards for women and the increased use of newly enacted provisions under the Indian Justice Code, 2023.
