Actress Celina Jaitley’s legal team has confirmed that a domestic violence complaint has been filed against her Austrian citizen husband Peter Haag before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Andheri, Mumbai. The matter was taken up for verification on Tuesday, following which the court issued notice to Haag, returnable on December 12.

Advocate Niharika Karanjawala, appearing for Jaitley, told ANI that the complaint details years of alleged abuse. “Yes, we have filed a complaint under the Domestic Violence Act for cruelty and domestic violence, both physical and emotional, which lasted for several years after Ms Jaitley was married to Mr Peter Haag,” he said.
Karanjawala said the allegations included prolonged physical and emotional cruelty, manipulation and coercion. Along with the domestic violence case, separate civil proceedings are also underway in relation to Jaitley’s property in Mumbai. According to her lawyer, the gift deed of the property was allegedly obtained by Haag “through coercion”.
Various types of relief have been demanded in the petition. Karanjawala said, “Our prayers are manifold with regard to compensation, alimony to be given to Celina as well as a determination regarding her children.” He said Jaitley’s primary concern was his three children, who are currently in Austria with Hague.
According to the filing, Jaitley has requested for monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh. The petition also demands Rs 50 crore for potential loss of earnings. Karanjawala explained that this figure is from the period when Jaitley was reportedly forced to stop working “at a very lucrative time in his career”. A separate claim of Rs 50 crore has been made for pain and suffering.
