Due to the extended holidays of five to six days, Diwali is traditionally one of the most lucrative release periods in Gujarat. However, this window is usually dominated by major Hindi releases, forcing most Gujarati filmmakers to stay away from it. Chaniya Toli boldly broke that norm, and it paid off. On its first day, the film earned about one-third that of the Hindi film Thamma, but by the end of the weekend, it took the lead in the daily collections and is now performing well beyond that.
