At the beginning of her brilliant feature direction by Varsha Bharath, actor Anjali Shivraman played the role of a teenage girl who navigated love and lust in Chennai. Anurag Kashyap, who has come on board as a presenter, says Dirty girl “One of the most original stories” is that he has faced. “When I read it for the first time, it reminded me how, as a young filmmaker, I wanted to tell bold stories, and Varsha is beyond all my expectations and has made an excellent film from it. He is a voice to watch out, and we are happy to release the film in Hindi, because we know that this is a story that will be related to every girl in the country.”
Vetrimaran’s Grass Route supported by the film company with Ranjan Singh as an executive producer, Dirty girl Also Shantipriya. The film will be distributed by flip films.
Varsha says that the film was born from the need to tell a story that felt honest towards the world, which she sees around her- “A one where women are constantly defined, limited, and justice are done.”
“Through the film, I wanted to question the great idea of the label and how easily it is used to reduce women. For me, to direct that my first film is liberation and challenging, but the journey is worth every step. I am thrilled that the film will now talk to the Hindi audience, and I will get it rarely. It is important to take the risk and be right for someone’s vision.”
For Anjali Shivraman, first was seen on Netflix ClassBeing a part of Dirty girl He was one of the most “challenging and rewarding experiences of his career.
“Role pushed me to face identity, freedom, and decisions to face a lot of questions about women. It is often not that you get a character that takes himself in itself unplacedly, even when the world refuses to accept it. The film will now reach the Hindi audience – I believe that it is a turn in its subjects, and I am watching myself.”
With music composed by Amit Trivedi, Dirty girl Debut unprecedented praise at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam, winning the prestigious Netpack Award.
