Dacoit: A Love Story, starring Adivi Shesh, Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap in the lead roles, was initially expected to hit the big screens during Christmas 2025. However, the makers have now officially postponed its release to Ugadi next year, and have announced the new release date as March 19, 2026.

Taking to its official social media handle, Adivasi Shesh confirmed the postponed release date of Dacoit i.e. March 19, 2026. The lead actor wrote, “Ee Saari Mamulga Undhu (This time, things will not be normal). There is no need to look back. #Dacait is Ugadi. In theaters worldwide on 19th March 2026.”
Dacoit: A Love Story is directed by cinematographer Shenil Dev, based on a screenplay written by Shesh himself. The film tells the story of an angry criminal who wants to take revenge from his ex-girlfriend for cheating on him.
What went wrong between them and why they turned against each other is the emotional core of the story. Anurag Kashyap is expected to play the role of a police officer, with Sunil, Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni and other actors in lead roles.
The film was initially announced to star Shruti Haasan in the lead role. However, due to alleged creative differences, the actress walked out of the project and was replaced by Mrunal Thakur.
Now, with the new release date, the film will clash with Yash’s much-awaited period gangster action, Toxic at the box office.
Workfront of Adivi Shesh and Mrinal Thakur
Adivi Shesh was last seen in the lead role in Hit: The Second Case (2022). Directed by Shailesh Kolanu, the crime thriller tells the story of Krishna Dev aka KD, a police officer from Andhra Pradesh’s HIT unit, who investigates gruesome crimes involving female victims.
The film was the second installment in the hit cinematic universe and was both commercially and critically successful. The actor later reprized his role in the Nani-starrer Hit: The Third Case (2025).
Looking ahead, Sesh also has a G2 for release. The espionage action thriller serves as the sequel to the 2018 hit Goodachari and stars Emraan Hashmi, Wamiqa Gabbi, Supriya Yarlagadda, Madhu Shalini, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Suniel Shetty and many more in lead roles.
Meanwhile, Mrunal Thakur has reportedly joined the shooting of Allu Arjun and Atlee’s upcoming magnum opus, tentatively titled AA22xA6.
