Dhurandhar remained strong on its 7th Wednesday and added Rs. 1 crore to tally. There was a 35 percent decline in the film’s earnings compared to Tuesday and 15 percent decline compared to Monday. The total collection of its 7th week has reached Rs 100 crore. 11.15 crores in 6 days. It spends its entire week around Rs. 12 crores.
Running cum of Dhurandhar is now Rs. 779.65 crores. The film will cross the crore mark. Tomorrow it will cross the Rs 780 crore mark and then it will move towards its lifetime target. Ranveer Singh’s film titled Border 2 will face its first major hurdle from Friday.. The Sunny Deol-led film is expected to occupy most of the screens and oust all the stalled releases from the theatres. Based on current trends, the film directed by Aditya Dhar is set to achieve its all-time record box office journey of around Rs. 785-790 crore nett.
Dhurandhar is close to 3.50 crore viewers, which, considering the Hindi version alone (Jawaan did so in all versions), will become the first Bollywood film since Dangal to reach that level. At one time beating Dangal seemed like a possibility, but not anymore. Having said that, it’s worth noting that the box office is down from the better days of the 2010s. Although the decline seems less for big films because their films have longer runs due to less competition these days, but it does happen. Additionally, there are places where storage is not happening like before. In that context, the viewership, though less than Dangal, is probably at the same level, maybe even better.
Then the question is whether the film should be classified as an all-time blockbuster. It would have been easier if it had been above Rs. 800 crore nett benchmark, but still there are some other caveats, like a) footfalls are not at that level, and b) the numbers include a significant amount of feeding in the first week. A more detailed note addressing this classification will be issued in the coming days.
