Dinesh Vijan said, “People want to take risks. We don’t have confidence that the film will work. So, we feel great when a film is risk-free. But if you realise, all the films that crossed the Rs 500 crore mark were risky films. We didn’t know how to make that.” shade (2025). Vicky Kaushal had never played the role of any historical personality. Laxman Utekar had never directed a film like this. But it was about survival. We had to make that kind of film and do that kind of business for our survival. This was not based on streaming revenue. At one point, no rights were sold. That film collected all its earnings from theatres.
He further added, “We are trying to make a film called MahavatarWhich is about Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. With this film, we are really trying to go global. Sometimes, I wonder ‘How will we do this?’ is six times its size shade. We can’t go out into the world and say, ‘We’re giving you some little thing.’ We will carry forward our culture and present it in the best possible way. I think this year’s Ramayana will pave the way for it.
Dinesh Vijan also talked about the grand Diwali release, RamayanaStarring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and others,” Namit Malhotra is producing Ramayana. He has not sold anything for that film. I shouldn’t say much about it. I think a unit is coming. What is surprising is how candid he was about this film even four years ago. He is one of the few people I can go to for guidance and vice versa. I told him, ‘If Ramayana Let’s go, Mahavatar Everything is ready’! His film deals with the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, while our film is about his sixth incarnation.
