Reacting to the development, Ram Gopal Varma strongly criticized the federation’s involvement in the controversy. In a long post on X, Verma wrote, “Ban ‘FWICE’, not @RanveerOfficial.”
The filmmaker argued that the issue was essentially a contractual disagreement between the two parties and should not be treated as an industry-wide matter. “At the center of this whole matter is a producer claiming massive pre-production losses, but this is just a private contractual dispute between two parties, as happens in millions of cases all the time and in all businesses across India,” he wrote.
Verma questioned the authority of FWICE to intervene in such disputes, saying, “FWICE is neither a court of law nor a government-authorized regulatory body.”
He also claimed that only the parties directly involved were aware of the full circumstances surrounding the disagreement and suggested that any legal issues should be resolved through proper judicial channels. He said, “Only the disputing parties will know the intricacies of what happened, and so this case should be between them like any other civil case, and if one or both appeals to the court, the judge decides the case.”
The filmmaker further argued that the actor’s professional status would remain unaffected despite the controversy. “And here we reach the main point, which everyone knows, including the company in dispute, and for that matter FWICE too, that if @RanveerOfficial just nods yes, then tomorrow morning there will be a kilometer long queue of producers with checks outside his house,” Verma wrote.
He concluded his statement by urging all parties to avoid unnecessary interference in what he described as a civil dispute. “Let’s not stick our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between two parties,” he said.
