Tamil film Dude performed well in its first weekend, collecting Rs. Around 36 crores at the Indian box office. The film could have done a business of Rs 10 crore. 40 crores or more, if not for the pre-Diwali period. However, thanks to good collections in the Telugu states, this is the best weekend figure of lead Pradeep Ranganathan’s career.
The worldwide weekend gross for the film was Rs. Around Rs 51 crore, of which US$1.75 million (Rs 15.50 crore) came from foreign markets.

In Tamil Nadu the film made Rs. Earned 21.50 crores in the first weekend, which is the second weekend for Pradeep after Dragon. Dude scored higher than Dragon on the opening day, but Dragon had an extraordinary surge over the weekend, nearly doubling its opening day on Sunday. Dude could have overtaken Dragon on a normal weekend, but it being pre-Diwali, that probably stopped it.
With Diwali today, business will see a pick up and should remain high throughout the week. The film should aim to double its weekend numbers during the week. This won’t be enough to overtake Dragon’s entire run, but it will give it a basis to post a final number of more than Rs. 60 crores in the state, which will be a very good result.
Outside Tamil Nadu, the film had a record weekend for Pradeep in the Telugu states and Kerala, while Karnataka was under Little Dragon.
