Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is aiming for a great opening at the box office. It is estimated that the film is earning a whopping Rs 8 crore on its first day. This is the best opening of Harshvardhan Rane’s career. The holiday factor may have helped them, but the clash with a relatively bigger film, Thamma, probably hurt the film more, as it could not secure enough exposure where it could have made good collections.
The film was not released in many single-screen theaters and smaller centres. With a better performance on its opening day, the film could have earned Rs. 100 million. In the end, the film probably would have been better off with a single non-holiday release, as the target audience, which is predominantly youth, would have given it a head start anyway.
Still, the premise of the Milan Milap Javeri-directed film is brilliant. It will also be a hit with the general trend from here. It will likely be frontloaded, which is usually the case for directors who have given small films a good start over the years, but which haven’t sustained well. Satyamev Jayate 2 grossed hugely in 2018. Earned Rs 20 crore on the first day, but could earn only Rs 20 crore. 80 crores in its entire performance.
Since the film has opted for a Tuesday release, it will have the advantage of 6 days in the opening weekend. The film should now aim to maintain the momentum and finish its weekend on a solid note. Harshvardhan Rane’s much talked about film Sanam Teri Kasam has collected Rs. Earned Rs. It earned Rs 34 crore during its re-release earlier this year. This would have been a good outcome for a crazy person’s madness. With such a good start, it may go up, possibly to Rs. Earning Rs 50 crore at the domestic box office.
