Global music icon Enrique Iglesias’ much-awaited return to India was marked by both unforgettable musical moments and a shocking theft incident. The Grammy Award-winning singer performed at the MMRDA Ground in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai on October 29-30, attracting over 25,000 fans at his two-day concert that kicked off the “Enrique Iglesias Live in Concert – India Tour 2025”.
Enrique Iglesias’ Mumbai concert hit by theft: 73 phones worth Rs 23.85 lakh stolen
Amidst the excitement and star-studded crowd, which included Bollywood celebrities like Malaika Arora, Vidya Balan, Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani, at least 73 mobile phones collectively worth Rs 23.85 lakh were reported stolen during the electrifying show. The thefts, which are suspected to be the work of organized pickpocketing gangs taking advantage of the dense crowd and excitement, targeted a number of attendees, including a journalist, hoteliers, make-up artists, students and businessmen.
The concert itself was a spectacle, with Iglesias, in his signature all-black ensemble, whipping the crowd into a frenzy with timeless hits like “Hero,” “Bailamos,” and “Be With You.” The fans’ enthusiasm did not wane on the second night, despite heavy rain that turned the open field into a wet dance floor, but spirits remained high as Iglesias delighted the drenched audience with an unforgettable set.
Mumbai Police have registered at least seven FIRs related to the theft and have begun investigation, with officials reviewing CCTV and other security footage in the hope of catching the culprits. The incident, highlighting both the thrilling and chaotic aspects of large-scale music festivals, has sparked renewed concern over crowd safety and theft prevention at major entertainment events in the city.
