Akshay Kumar is in the headlines these days. The superstar, who received appreciation for his incredible performances in Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2 and entertained the audience with his comic timing in Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3 this year, is planning a strong line-up for his 2026-2027 releases. The actor is already reuniting with Priyadarshan for three films – Bhoot Bangla, Haiwaan and Hera Pheri 3, the first two of which will hit screens next year. He also has Welcome to the Jungle in the pipeline. And now, the actor is working with another renowned director with whom he shared a great friendship in a previous collaboration.
Speculations are rife that the actor is reuniting with Anees Bazmee for a dual-role comedy-drama titled Ram Aur Shyam. Contrary to ongoing reports, IHNS has exclusively learned that the actor is indeed joining hands with Anees Bazmee, but it is not for Ram Aur Shyam. A source close to the development said that Akshay Kumar is leading Anees Bazmee’s next film, which is not a dual-role comedy but a refreshing family comedy drama. The yet untitled film will be financed by Telugu filmmaker Dil Raju under his production company, Sri Venkateswara Creations.
The source further revealed that the film is currently in pre-production and the makers are planning to hit the floors in February 2026. Casting is underway for the female lead and other characters. Like all of Anees Bazmee’s previous directorial ventures, this film too will have a strong supporting cast.
Talking about Anees Bazmee, his previous film was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024). He was supposed to direct No Entry 2 with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Arjun Kapoor, but the film has now been shelved.
The upcoming family comedy-drama will mark the fourth collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee. The two have previously worked together in films like Welcome (2007), Singh Is King (2008) and Thank You (2011). They are now reuniting after a long gap of 15 years. Apart from the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, this will be another reunion that will excite fans considering their impressive partnership in previous works.
