Filmmaker Anuparna Roy’s first feature, Songs of forgotten treesIt had a world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival – where it was the only Indian selection in the prestigious Orhizonti Competition section. Presented by Anurag Kashyap, the film gave a strong response to its pack screening.

Speaking after the premiere, Kashyap said he was thrilled with the film’s response. “It is very good for Anuparna and the team to see this, who has really worked hard to pull a film at this day and age, which I could not even do 25 years ago. I am sure the film is a long journey from here to the world and is definitely a filmmaker’s next strong voice from India.”
Sharing his enthusiasm, filmmaker Anupade Roy said, “It is almost incredible for me to see the film premiere in Venice here and this response has been received. I want to thank the team that was with me on the film and especially my producers who supported me throughout the film.”
Along with Kashyap, the premiere was attended by producer Ranjan Singh (Flip Films), Bibbhanshu Rai (River Tail Films), Romil Modi (Romil Casting), and co-producers Naveen Shetty (Newb Studio-Naube Sirus), and Sharib Khan and Cur Media. Director Anuparna Roy and members of artists were also present, representing the film on the red carpet in Venice.
The film is raised by Cellulid Dreams, a Landmark Association for sale worldwide. Songs of forgotten trees Figrant on the international map.
