Exclusive: Ayushmann Khurrana gives big update on film with Sooraj Barjatya, confirms ‘genre-breaker’ films with YRF and Dharma Productions

Ayushmann Khurrana has recently handed over his fifth Rs 100 crore film. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film marked Maddock’s entry into the horror-comedy universe. In an exclusive masterclass with IHNS, Ayushmann shared a big update on his upcoming release slate and revealed what’s the X-factor in his upcoming film with Sooraj Barjatya.

Confirming his upcoming venture with Rajshri Productions, Ayushmann said, “Yaar woh bachpan ka pyaar hai Sooraj Barjatya. We have grown up watching his family films, we are the new prem hoon toh kabhi kabhi majakal mein bolta hoon, prem se bolo jai mata ki, hum north mein bolte hain.”

She further gave a big update and revealed that her film with Sooraj Barjatya gives a good message without being preachy. “I am happy that I am doing that film. The good thing is that partly I have come towards her, partly she has come towards me. She is a film which has a lot to say. Generally, in a Sooraj sir film the message is not just a family entertainer, it also has a message without being preachy. So that is the most beautiful part of it. And it matches my core, and I am really happy that I am playing Prem in Sooraj Barjatya’s film,” said Khurrana. Said.

The 41-year-old further talked about his other films and confirmed ‘genre-breaking’ films with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. He said, “That untitled film with Dharma-Sikhya (Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment) is a quirky genre-breaker, that’s my core again. Also, the next film with Posham Pa and YRF, that too is unnamed. That too is my kind of film. Very different, a genre-breaker, so all three of these films that are coming are going to be a lot of fun.”

The actor concluded by mentioning that he has three films releasing next year. The first will be Pati, Patni Aur Woh 2, and then Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment’s untitled film, followed by Sooraj Barjatya’s family drama.
