A source from the exhibition area explained IHNS“Both PVR IMAX Nexus Koramangala and PVR IMAX Palazzo feature IMAX Dual Xenon 3D projection. These theaters have now been upgraded to IMAX XT Laser 3D. At one time Xenon was a standard but now, XT Laser is preferred as it provides significantly brighter, sharper images with better colour, contrast and resolution.”
This means that residents of Chennai and Bengaluru will experience IMAX XT Laser 3D for the first time, as all other IMAX properties in these southern cities include IMAX Dual Xenon 3D projection.
The source added, “There is also a more advanced format called Commercial Laser 3D IMAX, which uses next-generation laser projection to deliver brighter, sharper images with deeper contrast and richer colors, which is a huge advantage for 3D, which may otherwise appear dim. The result is a more vibrant, immersive viewing experience. In India, only two theaters have this advanced projection – PVR IMAX Lower Parel in Mumbai and PVR Select City Walk Saket in Delhi. There were expectations that the Chennai and Bengaluru IMAX screens would receive a commercial laser upgrade, however, the XT Laser is also better and will be loved by fans.
Of the 34 IMAX theaters in India, 13 were so far equipped with XT laser projection. With the upgrade, PVR IMAX Nexus Koramangala Bengaluru and PVR IMAX Palazzo Chennai now join this prestigious list.
