Rana Daggubati opens up on being adamant on Neelira’s original release date
Speaking to IHNS, Rana Daggubati He said, “First of all in Tamil cinema, it will become a very mainstream film. If we just look at the glimpses from the trailer launch, in terms of directors, half the Tamil industry was there who had so much passion when talking about this. I have been to various film events, and I even told Karthik (Subbaraj) that I have never seen anything like this before.”
The actor-producer said, “Generally, it’s very normal. You call some people, they say some nice things about the director, say nice things.” KarthikAnd say, ‘Okay, you guys are doing this,’ and that’s it. But this time everyone had a vision as to why such a cinema had to be made and why this film was so important. This was one of the few times when people saw the film and then came to such an event.”
Rana further added, “That’s when I understood that this is an individual issue, and there are a lot of people in the country who want representation, who want a voice in this way. So, for Tamil, we are treating it like a mainstream film. In every other region, I think the subtitled audience has increased quite dramatically. Be it Korean films releasing in India or Spanish films releasing on networks, we are all interested in everything that has deep culture, Be it global culture or Indian culture, I think there are many films coming out from different parts of the country after 2020.
