Kantara: Chapter 1, with Rishab Shetty in the main role, should strike silver screens on October 2, 2025. Written and directed by the actor himself, the next film serves as a prequel to the film blockbuster Kantara (2022).
Now, in an exclusive interview with IHNS, Rishab Shetty revealed if he intended to extend the world of Kantara into a full -fledged cinematographic universe.

Speaking on the current buzz as to whether Kantara is transformed into a multi-film universe, Rishab Shetty said: “Universe Ke Baare Mein Mujhe Kuch Pata Nahin, definitely Kanta Ke Iss Duniya Mein Kuch Hain (I don’t know for the universe and everything, but there is something unique in the world of Kantara.)”
The actor continued: “The last time Hum does not likha Tha ‘legend’ by ‘Chapter 1’ Toh Ab Hua Hain Na. Isliye Dekhthe Hain (the last time we only wrote ‘Legend’ in the slogan, he has become chapter 1 ‘Now no.)

Kantara: Chapter 1, with Rishab Shetty in the main role, is the second episode of the Kantara franchise, serving as a prequel to the successful film 2022. Located during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty, the film explores the mystical tradition and the traditions rooted in the tales of Panjurli Daiva.
The story should deepen the bridge between divinity, regional folklore and spirituality transmitted by the experience of nature and the divine.
Like the original, Kantara: Chapter 1 is written and directed by Rishab Shetty himself, who again plays the central character. The actor-director is joined by Rukmini Vasanth as female manager, while Gulshan Devaiah probably plays the antagonist.
In addition to the tracks, the film would have Jayaram, Pramod Shetty, Rakesh Poojari, Prakash Thuminad, Deepak Rai Panaje, Hariprashant Mg, and more in key roles.
While B. Ajaneesh Loknath returns as a musical director, the visuals of the film are captured by Arvind Kashyap, Suresh Malaiah working as editor.
