Bollywood is ready to celebrate V. Shantaram, one of the most visionary storytellers of Indian cinema. Yes, you read it right, and the biopic will be directed by Siddhant Chaturvedi with Fardeen Khan playing a pivotal role. The ambitious project, produced by Kiran Shantaram, will bring the legendary filmmaker’s timeless legacy to life on the big screen.
A source close to the development reveals, “The team is very excited about the project and is leaving no stone unturned in bringing V. Shantaram’s legacy to life on the big screen. Siddhant has already done a photoshoot for the look test, and the likeness is amazing. The film will go on floors in the next few months.”
The source further revealed, “Shantaram was married thrice, and hence, there will be 3 actresses to play his wives in the film.” The filmmaker’s first wife was Vimala, then he married actress Jayshree, with whom he had two children and later married Sandhya. Shantaram, fondly called Annasaheb, died on 30 October 1990 in Mumbai and was survived by his three wives and seven children.
Siddhant Chaturvedi will play the role of V. Shantaram – the creator of classics like Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje and Navrang. While Siddhant’s transformation is expected to be one of his most challenging performances yet, the makers are keeping the details of Fardeen Khan’s character under wraps for now.
Currently in the final stages of preparation, the project is set to create a stir in the industry. The source added, “This is a story that needs to be told with integrity and scale.”
