Sumit Arora has created a distinct identity for himself due to his strong writing in shows like The Family Man, The Roar, Guns and Roses And Stronghold: Honey Bunny and in films like Woman (2018), ’83 (2021), young (2023), Chandu Champion (2024) etc. 21st November was an important day for them this year as they had 2 releases – Season 3 The Family Man Farhan Akhtar-starrer war drama released on Amazon Prime Video 120 brave Reached theatres. In an exclusive interview with IHNSSumit Arora told about his dialogues 120 brave and a lot more.

You had two releases in the same day. How was the experience and what did you do on 21st November?
I was at IFFI, Goa because we had a screening The Family Man as well as 120 braveI was checking the reactions of both of them, The Family Man Season 3 While it was available digitally 120 brave Was released in theatres. So, having two releases on two different mediums on the same day was very interesting and overwhelming. The Family Man It has been widely loved and so, we knew people were waiting for it. We were curious how they approach the new season. Thankfully, they are having a lot of fun watching it.
120 braveMeanwhile, it is also a special film because it tells an important chapter of history. The love for it is also overflowing and hence, the experience has been satisfactory.
You told us earlier that you don’t believe in communicatingbet For this. Did you apply the same idea? 120 brave Too?
Absolutely. I apply this in everything I do (smiles). The film is based on a true story and its characters were also real. So, I had to stay connected to my roots and be forceful in my conversations wherever necessary. I had to make sure that powerful dialogues had to be said for a reason. For example, when Farhan Akhtar tells his soldiers that he ‘I will not Back Down’The dialogue should be emotionally rich and express their feelings towards the country. He brings up the fact that he is the son of farmers. So, he says, ‘Fighting for the land is in your blood. And this time, it is not about the land, it is about our land.This line came naturally when he was talking to the soldiers who are sons of the soil who are now fighting for their motherland, So, we were not trying to have any influence on it,
How was it working with Farhan Akhtar?
i worked on it roar Before this, which was produced by them. But this was the first time I interacted with him. He is very professional, sharp and intelligent person. He is very respectful and accepts the opinions of everyone around him. So, it was a great experience. I saw his first directorial film, heart desires (2001), before coming to Mumbai and I loved it. It was very enriching to see his creative process up close.
You went to the sets of Jawan for 100 days. did you visit 120 braveEven sets of?
Yes, I went to Ladakh and I went twice.
Was it challenging to shoot the film in a hostile area like Ladakh?
Yes. Shooting at such heights is always a challenge. The members of the unit started falling ill all the time. I also fell ill during a trip. My condition was similar to that of radio operator Ramchander Yadav (played by Sparsh Walia) in the film as I was suffering from altitude sickness. Thankfully, it didn’t last long and I only felt sick for a few hours. I faced breathing problems because I forgot to take the tablet to acclimatize myself. So, it is very difficult to shoot there.
Shahrukh Khan recently won the National Award youngDid it feel like a personal accomplishment?
More than a personal accomplishment, it felt like an accomplishment for the man you’ve always loved. I felt very happy that I could be a part of the film which won Shahrukh sir a National Award. This was an award he should have won a long time ago because he has done such a remarkable job in so long. So, I think it was the National Award that he deserved and not the other way around (smiles).
Apart from this, what are your upcoming projects? border 2Are you a part of it, roar 2,
Yes, roar 2 Is Happening. And I am also working on Kabir Khan’s next film. There are also some other projects I’ll be able to talk about in the near future.
