After the impressive box office performance and strong audience reception of Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Maddock Films has quietly started work on the sequel. IHNS has exclusively learned that the Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon-led sci-fi romantic comedy, which created a stir for its unique take on love and technology, is now being expanded into a big franchise drama.
Sources tell us that the sequel will see Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon reprising their roles, while Janhvi Kapoor is expected to join the cast in a pivotal role. “The story will pick up where it left off,” the source confirmed. While plot details are being closely guarded, the second installment is said to expand on the concept in a big way.
Little Birdy also reveals, “Writing is currently underway, and the script is expected to be ready by August. The producers are planning to take the film on floors in the first quarter of 2027. However, a lot will depend on how Cocktail 2 performs, as that will help shape the timelines and priorities for the studio.”
The success of the original film not only confirmed Maddock Films’ ability to support high-concept entertainers, but also opened doors for the exploration of unconventional love stories within mainstream cinema. With the sequel now in development, expectations are already very high for what the team will have next.
