Yesterday, it was revealed that veteran producer TP Aggarwal filed a petition in the Bombay Civil Court in Dindoshi against FWICE and IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association), saying that no person or organization has the right to impose sanctions or issue non-cooperation directions against members of the film industry. The petition comes in the wake of FWICE issuing non-cooperation directions against actor Ranveer Singh following the dispute between the actor and Excel Entertainment. Had a special conversation with TP Aggarwal to understand this matter further.
Exclusive: TP Aggarwal hits out at FWICE over non-cooperation directive: “If they show power by committing hooliganism, it won’t work like this”; Revealed that he is planning a film with Ranveer Singh
TP Aggarwal told “As you well know, I was the President of IMPPA for 17 years and was also the President of the Film Federation of India (FFI). When I was in IMPPA against (FWICE), we got a decision from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The decision clearly said that they cannot take such decisions, they cannot enter any premises, etc. Meanwhile, I was planning to make a film and was thinking of talking to Sanjay Dutt and Ranveer Singh. That’s when I came to know about the (non-cooperation directive).”
He objected to the actions of FWICE, saying, “You want to ensure that the actor gets work anywhere. This way you will destroy everyone’s livelihood.. That’s when I decided to approach the court.
When asked whether FWICE officials contacted him after filing the case in the court, TP Aggarwal replied, “Why should they contact me (laughs)? They should have contacted me before taking this decision. After all, they know me well and they know that I am the former president of IMPPA. If he commits hooliganism Power I will show you, it won’t work like this, right?? They can’t do that.”
After all, has he spoken to Ranveer Singh on this issue? TP Aggarwal replied, “No, I did not. I have not taken this step so that Ranveer comes and talks to me. I do not need that publicity.”
