The Kapoor family legacy case – already fraught with allegations, rival claims and power changes – has now taken a surprise turn with the mysterious disappearance of a crucial email attachment linked to the disputed will of late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor. Senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Sanjay’s children along with Karisma Kapoor, told the Bombay High Court that the digital trial of the will has not been stopped. According to court submissions, Priya Kapoor’s key witness Dinesh Aggarwal sent two emails to executor Shraddha Suri Marwah – the first with the Kapoor trust deed (admittedly deleted), and the second with the scanned will. And now it turns out that while the email is fully present, the will attachment has inexplicably disappeared.
Jethmalani’s statement moved the court: “You cannot delete the attachment without deleting the email.” This revelation dealt a serious blow to the credibility of the will – especially as Priya’s own filings referenced the mysteriously missing document, raising a deeply uncomfortable question for the court: how could a document be cited if it had allegedly gone missing?
The doubts deepened when viewed against a broader timeline. Aggarwal and fellow witness Nitin Sharma both witnessed professional leapfrogs soon after Sanjay’s death, while Priya reinstated herself as managing director of AIPL within days.
Legal observers see a pattern. Jethmalani argued that “a will that cannot withstand scrutiny at the most basic level cannot be trusted,” hinting that rapid promotions, sudden changes of power, and conveniently missing attachments may not be coincidental.
Legal expert Pratik Thadani said the high court is expected to closely evaluate the entire chain of custody: the emails, Priya’s quick restoration, the emergence of witnesses, and the discrepancies tarnishing the authenticity of the will.
With missing files, suspicious deadlines and an empire worth crores of rupees at stake, the Kapoor case now resembles a high-stakes thriller – where a single missing attachment could decide everything.
