Deepika Padukone’s alleged rift with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Mythri movie makers over her demand for eight-hour work shifts has sparked a new round of debate in the film industries. Adding to the ongoing discussion, netizens have now claimed that the makers have removed Deepika’s name from the end credits Kalki 2898 ADThe first installment of Nag Ashwin’s ambitious sci-fi franchise.

Fact Check: Deepika Padukone’s name removed from the end credits of Kalki 2898 AD after the exit row?

To verify speculations, IHNS Checked the versions of the film currently available on major streaming platforms. It turns out that in the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 ADWhich is streaming on Netflix, Deepika Padukone’s name has actually been removed from the end credits. However, the other four language versions – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam – currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, include his name in the credits.

Although the development has drawn strong reactions online, neither the actress nor the production house has issued any official statement on the matter.

In September 2025, Vyjayanthi Movies, behind the banner Kalki 2898 ADIt was confirmed through an official statement that Deepika Padukone will not return for the sequel. The announcement shared on the production house’s social media handle read: “It is officially announced that @DeepikaPadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were not able to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her all the best for her future endeavors.”

Padukone’s character was central to the narrative of SUM-80. Kalki 2898 ADThe story revolves around her and her unborn child, who is predicted to be the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu – Kalki.
