The ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has now triggered new criticism from within the film industry. Amidst the discussion over FWICE’s recent non-cooperation directive against the actor don 3 controversy, editor Shwetha Venkat has questioned the film body’s priorities and its response to long-pending issues faced by editors in the industry.

Shweta Venkat, known for her work in acclaimed films like Gangs of WasseypurScreen spoke out about the lack of action on concerns raised by film editors regarding delayed payments, poor work structures and unhealthy working conditions.
His comments come soon after FWICE officially issued non-cooperation directions against Ranveer Singh following complaints related to his exit don 3.
According to reports, filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had approached industry bodies in April 2026, alleging that Ranveer Singh’s sudden exit from the project had caused a financial loss of Rs 45 crore. FWICE later said that the actor had allegedly ignored several notices sent to him before the body implemented its direction on May 25.
While the move generated mixed reactions online, Shwetha Venkat highlighted how editors had been waiting for years for a meaningful intervention from the same film body. “We needed to have a conversation with the producers. They were also sent a letter signed by 242 editors working in the industry, outlining the issues. But there has been no communication or response since that meeting,” Shweta told Screen.
He further explained that concerns about delayed payments, unfair structures and poor working conditions were raised in detail, but no significant progress was made. Taking her criticism a step further, Shweta also reacted to FWICE’s swift action against Ranveer Singh on social media. In a sarcastic post, he described the organization’s efficiency in the actor’s case as “cute”.
“Where was this efficiency when film editors came to you for help communicating with producers? It’s been three years. Or maybe we weren’t that good. Basically producers or actors,” he wrote.

Although the actor later cited changes in the script as the reason for his decision, the producers alleged that his withdrawal at the last minute caused massive disruption and financial blow to the project.
On May 26, Ranveer Singh’s team released a statement saying that the actor has the “highest respect for the film fraternity” and believes that “professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”
