The Delhi government has declared a dry day on 18 April 2025 in adherence to Good Friday – an important opportunity for Christians worldwide. This order was issued by the Excise Department to suit Rule 52 of Delhi Excise Rules, 2010.
Excise Commissioner Sunny Singh said that all liquor license holders should follow instructions and display orders prominently in their establishments, PTI Informed
The department said that apart from Good Friday, liquor fast in the national capital will also be closed on Buddha Purnima (May 12) and Eid-ul-Zuha (6 June).
Good Friday, which falls on 18 April this year, marks the cross of Jesus Christ and is observed by Christians as the day of mourning and reflection. This is followed by Easter Sunday, which celebrates the revival of Christ. This day is also known as holy Fridays, Great Friday or Black Friday in different parts of the world.
According to the new rule, Good Friday is the day when Jesus was crucified by Roman. Jewish religious leaders condemned Jesus of condemnation to claim to be the son of God. They were so excited by Jesus’ acts that they brought him to Roman. A Roman leader Pontius Pilate sentenced Jesus to the cross.
