Actress Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohail Khaturia have been granted divorce by a family court in Mumbai’s Bandra suburb. According to a report by NDTV, the actor’s lawyer Adnan Shaikh confirmed this. The couple’s separation comes months after speculation of trouble in their marriage circulated online. In August last year, there were rumors on social media that the two were living separately for some time.

Confirming the development, Shaikh said in a statement, “Our client Hansika Motwani has been granted a decree of divorce by the Honorable Family Court Bandra. After both the parties accepted that the marriage has completely broken down, the divorce has been granted by mutual consent.”
He further said, “Our client had initially approached her now ex-husband for an amicable separation, which ultimately resulted in the present decree. The respondent today filed her affidavit before the court confirming her consent to the dissolution of marriage.”
Shaikh also clarified that the actor did not want any financial settlement with her ex-husband. He said, “It is pertinent to clarify that our client has not made any claim for alimony or maintenance, as his only intention was to end the marriage in an honorable and peaceful manner. The reasons for the breakdown of the relationship were placed before the Honorable Court in the petition. Our client now wishes to move on with his life and professional commitments.”
Hansika Motwani married Mumbai-based businessman Sohail Khaturia in a grand ceremony held at Mundota Fort and Palace on December 4, 2022. The wedding attracted a lot of attention online.
Before their marriage, Khaturia had proposed to the actor in front of the Eiffel Tower in November 2022. At the time, Hansika had shared pictures of the proposal on Instagram with the caption “Now and forever”.
Speculations about their separation were rife last year when the actor removed several wedding photos from his social media handles. Hansika has not yet commented publicly on the divorce.
