The note on social media from birthday boy Yash, who is excusing himself from the traditional fan meet on his birthday, comes as no surprise to anyone who knows this polite, gentle superstar even remotely.
This is why Yash didn’t meet a fan for his birthday
Till a few years ago, every year on his birthday on January 8, Kannada superstar Yash had to face the kind of adulation never seen before in this country. The mass of humanity that reached Bengaluru from across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh included around 5 lakh people.
Then something broke. When in 2018, senior co-actor Ambareesh, whom Yash respected greatly, passed away, Yash announced that he would not celebrate his birthday. One of his fans became so upset that he set himself on fire in front of Yash’s house. Yash reached the hospital where the fan died. But before that he wished his idol a happy birthday.
After this horrific incident, which never stopped weighing on Yash’s mind, he decided to let his fans do what they love every year on his birthday without the potentially risky fan meeting.
A source very close to Yash said, “He loves his fans. But his conscience cannot tolerate any mishap, especially after what happened at Vijay’s political rally in Karur.”
