After creating waves on Global Festival Circuit, Neeraj Ghaywan’s much awaited drama Homebound Its dramatic release is fully prepared. On September 13, 2025, producer Karan Johar announced on social media that the film will be released in theaters on 26 September 2025. Sharing the update, Johar wrote, “No feeling is final. #Homebound is releasing in theaters worldwide on 26 September.” The film will later stream on Netflix.

Homebound It had a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, where it was shown in the prestigious In relation to the United Nations Section. The film later traveled to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it earned a permanent ovation at its North American premiere earlier this month.
Directed and written by Ghaywan, the film is produced under the Dharma Productions by Karan Johar, other Poonwal, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. An adaptation of the 2020 New York Times article by Bashrat Peer, Homebound Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khat and Vishal Jethwa. It follows two childhood friends who navigate the pressure of life as they prepare for the National Police Examination.
Adding more weight to the project, Hollywood veteran Martin Scorscays came on board earlier this year as an executive manufacturer. In April, Johar revealed the cooperation of Scorsce by posting the filmmaker’s handwritten note for the filmmaker’s handwritten note of Gawan’s vision. Praising the director, Scorscs wrote, “I have seen Neeraj’s first film Masuan In 2015 and I loved it very much … Neeraj made a beautifully made film which is a valuable additional for Indian cinema. ,
Gaywan credited the film for the development of the film, screenplay amendments and advice during editing. Talking about the experience, he said, “(this) is an honor beyond the words … Mr. Scolceca was advised us through many tours of screenplay and editing. He listened with care, understood cultural reference, and offered us thoughtful, frightening notes every time.”
