Huge advance booking box office: Ranveer Singh’s film struggles for momentum, sixth highest grossing film of 2025 among national chains

The blockbuster is ending its pre-sale phase without any momentum, with the national chain having sold 120K tickets on the first day. On the last day of sale, the film sold around 50K tickets across national chains. Overall, the first day advance amount is around Rs. 5 crores nett, which is very less.

On Sunday, the advance was looking good, which could eventually lead to over 200K sales in national chains. This isn’t a huge number, but it would have given the film some room to work. Even some smaller series got some numbers in the beginning. However, Ranveer Singh’s film failed to gain any momentum in the subsequent days and is now ending at almost half the sales it could have on Sunday. The initial surge in sales was likely due to some block bookings, and ultimately, the organic movement did not keep up.

The bigger concern is not just low sales but lack of momentum. It is often seen that films with low sales but strong momentum get good momentum in the existing sales on the day of release and get better numbers than what they were given for the advance amount. With Dhurandhar not having momentum and sales leaning towards bigger centres, where there are better developments, it will be a tough task for the film to make much progress tomorrow. Long runtimes are another barrier and may further limit walk-ins on the work day.

As things stand, the stalwarts are aiming for an opening in the low-to-mid teens. If the film is successful in gaining acceptance among the audience, there will be a possibility of the collection increasing in the shows after tomorrow.
