Telugu film producer and distributor Naga Vamsi finally breaks his silence on the disappointing box office performance of War 2. During a promotional interview for his upcoming venture, Mass Jathara starring Ravi Teja, the producer admitted that he made a big mistake by blindly trusting YRF head Aditya Chopra.
In a conversation with Gulte, Naga Vamsi was asked how War 2 failed. To which he said, “Everyone makes mistakes, and the same happened with War 2. NTR garu and I trusted Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films. It did not work out and I became a target after the failure of the film.”
He further added, “Aditya Chopra is one of the biggest producers in the country and we believed in his vision, but War 2 flopped.”
Naga Vamsi concluded by highlighting how much he was trolled for a film he didn’t even produce. Vamsi concluded, “I was heavily trolled and I had to bear the brunt of it. The only silver lining is that I was trolled for a film I didn’t even make.”
For those unaware, Naga Vamsi distributed War 2 in the Telugu markets. He bought the Telugu distribution rights for a huge amount. During the pre-release event of War 2, he appealed to the fans to come to the theaters and make the opening day figures of the Telugu version slightly higher than that of its original version. His appeal did not last and the film flopped on its opening weekend.
While the Hindi version gained some popularity for a few weeks, the Telugu version proved to be a nightmare. For the record, the film starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani made its entire run at Rs. Completed in. Earning Rs 360 crore at the worldwide box office. Out of the total figure Rs. Rs 214 crore came from the Hindi markets, while the Telugu dubbed version could contribute only Rs. Earning of 63 crores.
