When and where to see Idli Kadhai
Idli Kadhai is scheduled to release on the OTT platform Netflix and will start streaming from October 29, 2025, just 28 days after its theatrical debut. The platform shared the official update via its social media handles.
Sharing the announcement, he wrote, “Anabala thodanguna idli kadhai anbala dhaan mudiyum.” (An Idli shop started with love can run only with love.)

Idli Kadhai Official Trailer and Storyline
Idli Kadhai tells the story of Murugan, a young man from a small town, whose primary ambition is to rise above his humble beginnings and run his family’s favorite idli shop run by his father.
Driven by ambition, Murugan leaves his family and his shop in the village to pursue a career in Madurai. Several years later, he is forced to return home after his father passes away, which also upsets his marriage arrangements with his boss Vishnuvardhan’s daughter, Meera.
Returning to his roots, Murugan inherited the family idli shop as well as the challenges of running it. Using his experience working in modern kitchens, he attempts to carry on the family business while developing romantic feelings for Kyle.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Meera’s critical and prejudiced brother becomes determined to destroy Murugan’s business as revenge for tarnishing his family’s reputation.
The film traces the difficulties and triumphs Murugan faces as he struggles to protect his idli shop and his father’s legacy.

Idli Kadhai stars Dhanush in the lead role along with Arun Vijay, Sathyaraj, P. Samuthirakani, Nithya Menen, Shalini Pandey, Rajkiran, R. Parthiban and many others in lead roles.
Written, directed and co-produced by Dhanush, the film has musical tracks and background score composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Kiran Kaushik served as cinematographer, while Prasanna GK handled the editing.
The film marks the actor’s fourth directorial venture after Pa Paandi, Rayan and Nilavukku En Male Ennadi Cobham (NEEK), Tere Ishq Mein.
