IHNS Predict is a weekly box office prediction series, which will be published every Monday. Currently, this will include opening day box office predictions for Hindi and select Hollywood films releasing in the next four weeks. In the future, the number of episodes will be increased and films from other languages may also be included as the series evolves.
There are no major releases happening on Friday, as the films releasing on Diwali are releasing on Tuesday. Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat are two films releasing on Diwali this year. Entering tracking this week is Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi starrer Haq.
Thamma (21/10/2025)
First Day Box Office Prediction: Rs. 17-22 crores
- A commercial entertainer with the backing of the highly successful franchise, Maddock Horror Comedy Universe or MHCU. Stree 2 became the highest-grossing Hindi film at the time of its release. Munjya was a surprise hit, taken at no face value.
- Releasing the day after Diwali, which is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, day at the box office. Comedy usually performs well during Diwali. Many comedies have done well in the last few days of Diwali… in fact, most of them were horror-comedies, like Golmaal Again, Housefull 4 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
- Although the trailer and music of the film are good, they have not lived up to the expectations.
- MHCU is successful and ensures initial visibility, but the marketability of the universe outside of feminine films has not yet been proven.
- The marketing campaign is promoting the dance numbers and not the horror and comedy aspects of the film.
The madness of a crazy person (21/10/2025)
First Day Box Office Prediction: Rs. 7-10 crores
- Music is essential to make a love story successful and here the music is becoming very good, some of the songs have become hits. The teaser and trailer have also received tremendous response.
- The film is creating strong buzz in the regions where two surprise blockbusters this year, Sanam Teri Kasam (re-release) and Syara, raked in huge collections.
- According to some metrics, the first day’s gains are quite high. It would not be a surprise if the film could do business of more than Rs 10 crore. 10 crores and around Rs. 15 crores on the first day.
- The downside is that the film lacks star value, and while the production quality is good, it has a “B-movie” look that may be a limiting factor in high-collection urban centres. It didn’t stop Sanam Teri Kasam, so it can’t be a major hindrance here too.
- The film may face problems in getting enough exposure due to the clash with Thamma, which is the bigger film and will take the lead in the initial performances. The expectation is that strong progress will be made to secure better performance allocations.
Haq (7/11/2025)
First Day Box Office Prediction: Rs. 2-4 crores
- The film appears to be aimed at a politically right-leaning segment. Some films in this line have performed well after Covid, some even became big blockbusters like The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story. Article 370 starring Yami Gautam was a hit last year.
- However, recently, many of these films have failed to perform as well as they were supposed to. Films like The Bengal Files, Ajay, The Udaipur Files etc. did not earn much.
- Unlike Article 370, which was based on the recent and widely attractive topic of Kashmir, Haq is about a court case in 1985, which is no longer current. This may limit its appeal.
- The film will depend on whether it builds some momentum post-release or not, but the initial value doesn’t look high, even though the teaser is quite good.
