Jr NTR is currently busy working on his next film, tentatively titled NTRNeel, which is scheduled to release on June 11, 2027. However, while many fans are eagerly waiting for the sequel to Devara, with recent reports suggesting that the project has been shelved, producer Lagdapati Sridhar has reacted to the speculations.
Producer Lagadpati Sridhar on Jr NTR’s plans for Devara sequel
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, producer Lagdapati Sridhar talked about the possibility of Devara 2. The filmmaker reportedly said, “Period setting fantasy dramas are slowly becoming stale. The old-school narrative style of the original Devara limited Jr NTR’s larger-than-life image, though he tried his best to elevate it with an intense performance. The film made money, but today’s audiences are much smarter and look for realistic and relatable plotlines.”
The producer further added, “NTR needs to choose better stories and directors to raise the bar further. He should find subjects that match his charisma and also help him expand his fan base across the markets.”
For those unaware, news of Devara 2 being shelved recently surfaced when it was announced that director Koratala Siva’s next project with Nandamuri Balakrishna will be tentatively titled. nbk112.
Talking about Devara, the film tells the story of a powerful sea warrior who protects a coastal village in the 1980s that is involved in illegal maritime smuggling. After realizing that these activities are harming the lives of innocent people, Devra turns against his comrades, including his close friend Bhaira, leading to a violent fight. His later mysterious disappearance leaves a complex legacy for his timid son, Vara.
With Jr NTR playing the role of both father and son, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Srikanth and Shine Tom Chacko in lead roles. The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix

jr ntr Currently NTR Nil is doing a film. The film was initially scheduled to release on June 25, 2026, but was later postponed to June 11, 2027.
The upcoming project is expected to feature Rukmini Vasanth in the lead role. The glimpse and official title of the film will reportedly be unveiled on May 20, 2026, coinciding with the War 2 actor’s 43rd birthday.
