In a post on social media, Mahesh Babu shared an official look from Varanasi. The new poster presents an impending doom for the world, depicting an asteroid destroying the world.
Close inspection of the title reveals that the background of Varanasi includes a figure with a clock-like image. These details reveal that the upcoming film is not only a globe-trotting adventure, but also a journey through time, with the protagonist traveling through the ages.
Additionally, the asteroid’s debris and path form the number 7, which represents a creative reference to the film’s release date.

Varanasi is an upcoming epic adventure drama film starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film features the superstar as a world-traveling, time-traveling adventurer named Rudra, which was introduced through a concept video featuring extensive CGI sequences.
Reports also suggest that Mahesh will likely play the role of Lord Ram from Hindu mythology as part of the time-travel elements of the film.
Ahead of the release of the concept video, the makers unveiled the first-look poster of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Priyanka will play the role of a femme fatale named Mandakini, while Prithviraj will play the main antagonist, Kumbha.
Although further details about the Salaar actor’s character have been kept under wraps, he will be seen as a vicious supervillain, with the first look showing him in a futuristic wheelchair.
Earlier, the team had put up billboards in Varanasi announcing the release date of the film, without revealing the name of the film. However, as soon as the pictures surfaced online, many people realized that these billboards were for Varanasi.
While the lead cast has been announced, the makers have not yet revealed the names of the supporting actors who will be seen in Varanasi.
