Jab Khuli Kitab Trailer Out: The film starring Pankaj Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Aparshakti Khurana will release on March 6, 2026 on ZEE5.
The trailer offers a window into the quiet, familiar world of Gopal (Pankaj Kapoor) and Anusuya (Dimple Kapadia), a couple bound by 50 years of shared routines, memories and tacit understandings. Their seemingly peaceful life takes an unexpected turn when Anusuya uncovers a long-buried secret, which shakes the very essence of their relationship. Struggling to come to terms with the revelation, Gopal finds himself torn between heartbreak and dignity, ultimately choosing to seek divorce.
Their story leads them to a young lawyer, played by Aparshakti Khurana, where difficult conversations begin to uncover years of unspoken emotions, long-standing pain and buried affection. As memories resurface and truths emerge, the trailer comes across as a poignant and nuanced portrayal of time-tested love. With a blend of sensitivity, warmth and honesty, it promises a compelling story about relationships, forgiveness and the strength needed to confront the past and rediscover connections.
Mixing gentle humor with easy-going moments, the film remains light on its own and ultimately ends up being genuinely enjoyable.
Talking about his character Gopal, Pankaj Kapur said, “What makes when the book opened Saurabh Shukla’s vision is really special. It’s rare to find a filmmaker who wants to shine a light on older, mature love — and do it with such honesty, humor, and tenderness. Saurabh has crafted a story that is not only fresh, but also deeply real. He reminds us that love does not diminish with age; It evolves, it becomes complicated, it wounds and it heals. It was a rewarding challenge to portray a man rediscovering love in the most unexpected way; I am grateful to be a part of a story that treats this stage of life with such dignity, authenticity and emotional depth.
On playing the character of Anusuya, Dimple Kapadia said, “when the book opened It really felt like this was a project where all my boxes were ticked – a beautiful story, the opportunity to work with Pankaj Kapur, and be directed by Saurabh ji, all while enjoying the beauty and divine energy of the mountains. Anusuya is written with such depth and honesty that it was a joy to explore her many shades. What attracted me to her is the simplicity of her intentions – she’s not trying to break up her marriage; She’s trying to be honest in this. That kind of honesty, especially after living together for decades, requires immense emotional courage. It feels great to portray such a nuanced character and I am grateful to Applause Entertainment and Hindi ZEE5 for supporting bold, intimate and deeply human stories.
Aparshakti Khurana said, “My character becomes an unexpected mirror through which Gopal and Anusuya begin to confront their past. The generational gap creates moments that are both comical and emotionally revealing. What I love most is how the film handles forgiveness and connection with such ease and such depth. It’s a rare story.”
