Over the years, actor Amitabh Bachchan has maintained the tradition of greeting fans outside his Juhu residence, Jalsa, on Sundays. However, last weekend, the actor skipped the ritual due to work commitments. Now he has revealed that he was in Hyderabad to start shooting for its sequel Kalki 2898 AD.
Kalki 2 shooting begins in Hyderabad: Amitabh Bachchan shares BTS with Kamal Haasan
On 24 February, Bachchan explained his absence on his blog. Sharing pictures of fans gathered outside his house despite prior notice, he wrote, “Told them I wouldn’t be able to come this Sunday as I was shooting in Hyderabad.. but still they came.. to confirm.. … even this cute little companion (dog),” along with pictures that showed a group of fans waiting to catch a glimpse of him.
Later, the actor apologized to his fans and confirmed that work on the sequel has started. He also shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set, including pictures of his transformation into Ashwatthama and a candid moment with co-star Kamal Haasan.
Expressing his happiness on collaborating with Haasan again, Bachchan wrote, “But sorry.. work first.. rest later.. … and meeting the great Kamal Haasan.. we will work together after years.. last time in Arrest.. Kalki 2 started work.. and will always cherish the love and affection of the anticipated presence on Sunday.. but hope the coming Sunday will be the same ..my love.”
The sequel, directed by Nag Ashwin, has gone on floors months after reports of Deepika Padukone’s exit from the franchise surfaced. While the makers have not officially announced the replacement for her character SUM-80 (Sumathi), there are reports that Sai Pallavi is in advanced talks to step into the role.
