Kantara Chapter 1 (Hindi) is looking to collect Rs. Earning 3.75-4 crores on fourth Saturday. This is on par with last Saturday’s trading, which was adversely impacted ahead of Diwali. Despite competition from two films and a drop in performance of about 75 percent, the film made very good collections during Diwali. It has continued the same momentum even after Diwali.
The film’s fourth weekend collection was Rs. Net against Rs 11 crore. 12.25 crores last week. The total gross after twenty-four days of release was Rs. 188 crore nett. This is approximately Rs. Rs 192 crore recovered by EOD yesterday. It is moving towards Rs. 200 crore nett mark, ETA coming on Thursday.
The business of the film can be classified as a super hit. There were high expectations from the film in the trade world, stemming from the business done by the sequels of other South films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2 and Pushpa 2. Those films were universal masala films, which traveled well throughout the Hindi heartland. Kantara has a regional feel and its performance is in line with that, with Karnataka having the best performance in neighboring Maharashtra. North India is not at the level of its all-India numbers, but the film posted good numbers there too.
Overall, Kantara Chapter 1 will perform 2.5 times more than the original Kantara in Hindi, which is a remarkable jump. On the first day it seemed like a few rupees. It could be Rs 150 crore for the film. However, it held up brilliantly and now stands at just Rs. 200 crore nett but also Rs. Rs 10-15 crore on this.
