What happened?
The first attack took place on 25 September, when two suspects carrying Red Jerikson set fire to the theater entrance at 5:20 am. Officials believe that the incidents were deliberately and they appealed to the public for information. Although some sources suggested a possible link to Khalistani extremist groups, Halton Police has not confirmed the angle. Oakville had previously seen Khalistani threats in a local temple, but no official relations have been made in this case.
Theater replied

As a result, Film.CA Cinema has temporarily shut down the screening of Indian films, and its updated lineup no longer has any South Asian title.
Impact
The fear has spread beyond Oakville. Another theater, York Cinema, also announced that it would not be a screening of Indian films “until next notice.” In a public statement, the theater cited the employee and guest security as the reason for the decision and assured that refunds would be issued for advance ticket booking.
