Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana The buzz continues ahead of its release, and the magnum opus has reportedly secured another major partner for its theatrical rollout. According to a report in Variety India, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has come on board to distribute the film in the Indian market, adding another major name to the ambitious project.

According to the report, producer Namit Malhotra screened around 30 minutes of exclusive footage of the film for several major distribution companies while looking for potential partners. The preview is said to have received an enthusiastic response, with Dharma Productions emerging as one of the studios interested in associating with the epic after being impressed by the footage.
The report further states that discussions between the makers and Dharma Productions initially began at a valuation of around Rs. 500 crore, the two sides eventually reached a deal worth around Rs. 250 crores. With Dharma now reportedly handling the domestic distribution of the film, the studio is expected to create a wide release strategy to ensure Ramayana Reaches a massive audience across the country.
For those who are unaware, Ramayana Envisioned as a two-part cinematic saga, it will star Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The first installment is expected to hit the theaters during Diwali 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive in 2027.
On the international front, Warner Bros. is expected to distribute the film in overseas territories. As part of its global positioning, the makers also unveiled the film’s first official property in the United States, signaling their intention to introduce the ambitious Indian epic to audiences worldwide.
Apart from its main cast, Ramayana It stars an ensemble cast of well-known actors portraying iconic characters from the epic. Sunny Deol will play the role of Lord Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey has been cast as Lakshman. Adinath Kothare will play the role of Bharat, Rakul Preet Singh will be seen playing the role of Soorpanakha, Lara Dutta will play the role of Kaikeyi, Arun Govil will play the role of Dasharatha, Sheeba Chaddha will play the role of Manthara, and Kunal Kapoor will play the role of Lord Indra, and many more.
Adding to the scale of the project is its music, which brings together two globally renowned composers – Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. With an extensive cast, international collaborations and an ambitious distribution plan now taking shape, Ramayana remains one of the most awaited Indian films on the release calendar.
