As the legal battle over late businessman Sanjay Kapoor’s assets worth thousands of crores escalates, Karisma Kapoor’s children Samaira and Kiaan are now questioning why their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapoor is opposing a forensic investigation of their father’s alleged will.

Siblings want forensic examination of will
Earlier, Samaira and Kiaan had moved the Delhi High Court seeking permission to inspect the original copy of Sanjay Kapoor’s will. The document was presented in a sealed cover by its nominated executor Shraddha Suri Marwah.
The siblings have argued that the will is “forged and fabricated” and claim that it contains several discrepancies which cannot be verified through the certified copy given to them. He also says the signature should be examined closely – which is why he asked for a forensic inspection.
Priya Sachdev objects to forensic review
The matter gained momentum when Priya Sachdev opposed the request for forensic investigation. This surprised many people, as such checks usually help confirm the authenticity of a document.
During the hearing on November 14, senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira and Kiaan, questioned why Priya and the executor would oppose an examination that could clarify the truth. Legal experts say this is unusual, especially when the will reportedly leaves almost the entire estate to a single beneficiary.
What did the court note
The brother-sister’s petition was heard again on November 17. Joint Registrar (Judicial) Gagandeep Jindal asked Priya Sachdev and executor Shraddha Suri Marwah to file written replies within three weeks stating their objections to the forensic inspection.
Adaira and Kiyan’s team can also make further submissions during this period. The next hearing of the case will be on 16 December.
What may have triggered the request
Sources close to the proceedings say the children have raised a number of issues that raise suspicions, such as:
- Incorrect or outdated address
- Pronoun or gender-reference errors
- Discrepancies with earlier records
- Metadata shows that the document may have been modified
- The absence of any known communication or instruction from Sanjay supporting the contents of the alleged will.
All this raises a central question: if the will is authentic, why resist forensic examination?

Apart from this petition, Samaira and Kiaan have filed a separate application seeking to restrain Priya from transferring or altering any of Sanjay’s properties until the case is resolved. The hearing on this interim request will continue on November 20 also.
Famous businessman and polo enthusiast Sanjay Kapoor died during a match in London in June. He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and they share Samaira and Kiyan. He married Priya Sachdev in 2017, with whom he has a son.
