KHxRK Budget: Rajinikanth with director Nelson Dilip Kumar, Kamal Haasan’s huge fees will cost the producers Rs 500 crore?

After almost 47 years, two undisputed giants of Indian cinema, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, are officially reuniting for a multi-starrer film, which is already being hailed as a landmark cinematic event. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, updates about the project have been keeping the audience engaged. Now, reports suggest that the makers will have to pay Rs 500 crore as payment to the trio. Tentatively titled KHxRK, Nelson is becoming the talk of the town for the exciting union of Dilipkumar, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. But this film is also making headlines because the actors and filmmakers are expected to get huge salaries for this high-stakes action film.

A report in Deccan Chronicle suggests that Kamal Haasan is reportedly going to take home Rs 220 crore. Sources say that given their involvement through production and distribution insights, they have opted for the profit-sharing model.

As far as Rajinikanth is concerned, Thalaivar is also not far behind, his remuneration is estimated between Rs 180 to 200 crores. Talking about the director of the film, Nelson Dilipkumar is reportedly charging Rs 70 crore for this ambitious project, bringing him into the elite category of directors.

According to industry insiders, the total remuneration of the lead stars and the director alone is reaching Rs 500 crore. Interestingly, while salaries have skyrocketed, the actual production cost is estimated to be around Rs 150 to 180 crore. This takes the total estimated budget to around Rs 650 to 700 crore.

Backed by Red Giant Movies, the film is officially set to become the most expensive Tamil film ever. At a recent event, Kamal Haasan quipped, “We had become one long ago, but decided to live separately because they kept dividing biscuits one by one and giving us only half each. Now we are again satisfied with only half the biscuits.”
